The Case for Topic Pages

Topic pages keep a growing publication readable by turning a pile of posts into coherent streams.

A simple archive is useful, but it asks too much of the reader once a site starts to accumulate material.

Topic pages solve that problem by giving each subject its own address. They also make imported drafts easier to manage, because a freshly crawled article can drop into an existing stream instead of floating around as an orphan.

The point is not complexity for its own sake. It is to make each new post strengthen the whole publication.
